CSK is up against KKR in the current fixture of the Indian Premier League and will be eyeing to grab the match in order to confirm their playoffs berth. Ahead of the game, CSK came up with an important change regarding team combinations. Chennai chose to go with Sam Curran in place of in-form Dwayne Bravo. In the same light, former CSK opener Shane Watson gave his views on team selection.

Watson added that though Bravo has been great for MS Dhoni and his men, young Curran will be hungry to go out and perform there. He also added that big things should be expected from Curran as he is highly skilled, and he was excellent against Andre Russel at Wankhede.

“Dwayne Bravo has been good for CSK. His bowling has been good for CSK. But Sam Curran will be ready to get out there. He has got a point to prove to try and stay in the team. Very important. I expect big things from Sam Curran tonight. He is a highly skilled cricketer. He has been in great form as well. So, he will be ready to take on KKR and make a mark,” said Watson on Star Sports.

Sam Curran was in such good form in the first phase, says Agarkar

Talking about the team combinations, former Indian cricket Ajit Agarkar said since Chennai are in strong positions, they can afford to try out these changes. He also lauded Curran for displaying the great form in the Indian leg. Talking about the current match, KKR chose to bat first after Eoin Morgan won the toss and are currently playing at 26 runs (at the time of writing) after losing Shubman Gill at the start of the game.

“Chennai are in such a good position that they can afford to make these changes. They basically have to win one more to qualify. Sam Curran was in such good form in the first phase. He got Andre Russell out in the game at Wankhede. That will help CSK in their plans as well,” said Ajit Agarkar on CSK’s combination.
