In what can be called a significant development, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been discharged from the hospital after suffering a heart attack in Lahore. The legendary cricketer had been complaining about chest pain over the last few days. Although he was cleared in the initial testing, reports of Monday (September 27) revealed he had suffered a heart attack and subsequently underwent surgery. The angioplasty, which took place on Monday evening, was successful.
Inzamam, who was instrumental in taking Pakistan to the 1992 World Cup triumph, was stable but under observation according to his agent. With the 51-year-old being one of the most significant personalities in Pakistan cricket, his fans and well-wishers were relieved after knowing his angioplasty was successful. Veteran Indian commentator also wished for his speedy recovery. “Wishing Inzamam-ul-Haq all the very best, that he recovers completely and remains part of our game for many many years,” tweeted Bhogle.

Inzamam-ul-Haq is not critical but under observation
As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, Inzamam’s agent revealed the Pakistan great isn’t in any danger but is under observation. Fondly addressed as Inzy by his fans and close ones, the right-handed batter shot to global prominence in the 1992 World Cup. After taking the Men in Green to the title, the dasher didn’t look back and played one sensational knock after another.
Be it stabilizing the innings after falling of quick wickets or scoring quick runs, Inzamam rose to every challenge his way. Although his fitness and running between the wickets were an object of constant ridicule throughout his career, the star batter kept on making his bat talk to justify his place in the side. He bid adieu to international cricket in 2007 but not breaking and creating a flurry of records.
He became Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in ODI cricket with 11701 runs in 375 matches. As far as his brilliance in the longest format is concerned, he has 8829 runs in 119 Tests. Not to forget, he is also among the country’s most successful captains. After shining over the 22 yards, Inzamam remained associated with the game in different roles. He served as the chief selector in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from 2016 to 2019. Besides this, he has also coached Afghanistan for a significant period of time.
