Australia opener David Warner has confirmed that he will be putting his name in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is expecting to be released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after being stripped of captaincy mid-season and was also dropped from the team during the second leg of the IPL 2021.

The southpaw had a tough IPL season this year. For the first time in the SRH jersey, he didn’t have a good time with the bat mustering only 195 runs in eight innings at a strike-rate of 107.73. There is a possibility that SRH might retain Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan ahead of the mega auction looking by how things panned out this season and Warner is looking forward to playing for a new franchise.

“I will put my name in the auction. By the signs of the recent IPL, I won’t be retained by the Sunrisers, so I’m looking forward to a fresh start,” the 35-year-old said while speaking to Australian radio station SEN.

It was a tough pill to swallow, says Warner on not playing in few matches

David Warner was dropped from the SRH team during the second leg only after two matches for not scoring runs. Speaking of the same the left-hander stated that he didn’t get a clear explanation regarding the same but was told that a couple of players were hitting the ball well. He also admitted that it was tough to sit out of the team and most importantly, not travelling to the stadium with the team.

“It was a tough pill to swallow. I kind of laughed at the reasoning, that two guys were hitting the ball out of the middle a little bit better than I was. Given that when you’re playing the game you’re playing the scenario. Obviously, there are a lot of moving parts around there. What you have to do as a professional athlete is take it on the chin do everything you can for the team.

“Not being able to go there, run drinks, and be around was when it sort of hit home that it could be personal, and I’m still yet to get those answers,” Warner added.
