Most Ducks in T20 World Cup History
This year’s T20 World Cup is taking place in UAE and Oman. As many as 16 teams are featuring in the tournament in pursuit of the prestigious title. While the top eight teams were already slotted in the Super 12, the other eight teams were asked to lock horns in a preliminary round with four positions up for grabs.
For the unversed, this is the seventh edition of the gala competition. Initially, the seventh edition was scheduled to take place in Australia last year. However, the COVID-19 crisis meant the tournament got suspended. The 2021 edition was scheduled to take place in India initially. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was forced to shift the tournament to the gulf nation owing to the coronavirus crisis in India.
With T20 becoming a fan-favourite over the years, every international team dreams to become the World T20 champions. Coming to the previous season winners, India won the inaugural season in 2007 while Pakistan emerged victoriously in the following edition. England and Sri Lanka are the other teams to have clinched the title once while West Indies are the only team to have lifted the trophy twice.
Meanwhile, T20 is known to be a format of batters as the margin for error for bowlers is minimal. However, one must not forget the fact that it takes mere one delivery to end a batter’s outing. Also, the 20-over format demands the accumulation of quick runs. Hence, batters need to take risks to help their side. Owing to the same, we have seen many players getting out on ducks.
