It’ll be our endeavor to go and try for Faf du Plessis in the mega auction: CSK CEO

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has retained four players for the upcoming seasons of the IPL. Ravindra Jadeja (INR 16 crore), skipper MS Dhoni (INR 12 crore), Moeen Ali (INR 8 crore), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 6 crore) are the players that the franchise announced as their retentions. However, what has intrigued the on-lookers is that Faf du Plessis wasn’t retained by the team.

The South African batter has been exceptional for the team. In the previous edition of the tournament as well, he chipped in 633 runs from 16 matches at a healthy average of 45.21. But the franchise went with Moeen Ali owing to the all-rounder package he brings to the fore.

The CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan, however, did not rule out the possibility of getting du Plessis back. He also hoped that the team is able to get the entire MA Chidambaram Stadium for their use in the upcoming season.

“We look forward to getting them back. For example, Faf has been a team man who has taken us to the finals of two important seasons. It will be our endeavor to go and try for him. But it’s not in our hands. We wish them all the very best wherever they are. We look forward to having a very good 2022.

“Chennai has been a very lucky ground for us; we had a good home advantage. That is because of the support we get from the CSK fans who throng the stadium. I hope that this year we get the entire MA Chidambaram Stadium for our use,” Kasi Vishwanathan said in a video uploaded by CSK.

Dhoni has been the mainstay of the team: CSK CEO

MS Dhoni has been one of the most pivotal cogs of CSK’s wheel over the years now. He has led the team to the title triumph on four occasions and has also helped the side grab a win from crunch situations with his street smart captaincy. Vishwanathan shed light on the same and stated that the keeper-batter’s experience is a great asset for the team.

“Thala (Dhoni) has been the mainstay of CSK. He has been a captain who has delivered for us. He gets the best out of the team every time he plays. As far as we are concerned, Thala plays a major role because he controls the team, and the team is benefitted from his experience. Nobody can doubt his skills as a captain,” he said.
