Yet another day and yet another win for Perth Scorchers! They have made a habit of this. Haven’t they? Hobart Hurricanes are the latest to go down against the Ashton Turner-led side. It was a pretty much one-side fixture as the Scorchers were dominant in all three departments. Having posted 167 while batting first, the Scorchers restricted the Hurricanes for 125/9 and walked away with a 42-run triumph.

Earlier in the game, Perth Scorchers won the toss and opted to bat at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The decision didn’t seem spot on at first as opener Josh Inglis was dismissed for a duck. However, Kurtis Patterson joined forces with last-match centurion Mitchell Marsh and the duo brought their side back in the hunt. While Marsh was playing the waiting game, the southpaw was aggressive in his approach.

Kurtis Patterson played the impact knock

The two added 72 runs for the second wicket as the Hurricanes looked in all sort of trouble. However, a middle-order failure meant the contest got even. Moreover, Patterson, after scoring a remarkable 78 off 48 deliveries, got out in the 17th over as the Scorchers were six down. However, Ashton Agar provided the late impetus with an 11-ball 30. As a result, the Perth-based side advanced to 167/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a stiff target, the Hurricanes never really looked in the hunt as none of their top-order batters could make a significant mark. The top-three, Matthew Wade, D Arcy Short and Caleb Jewell, scored 13 apiece and that too with a strike rate of below 100. The pressure mounted on the middle-order and the batters couldn’t deliver.

As a result, the Hobart-based team was reduced to 64/7. Although Nathan Ellis and Wil Parker did play some fine shots lower down the order, the duo could only narrow down the margin of defeat. The Hurricanes eventually ended up scoring 125/9 in their allotted 0 overs, losing the contest by 42 runs. Andrew Tye was the pick of the Perth bowlers, having scalped a three-fer. Peter Hatzoglou and Ashton Agar took two wickets apiece. Meanwhile, Scorchers continue to top the team standings with four wins in as many games.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to Perth Scorchers’ win:
