Pakistan is all set to face South Africa in an exciting contest in Match 9 of the Women’s World Cup 2022 at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 11. Pakistan is coming off back to back defeats in their previous games against India and Australia and they have been thrashed in both of the games so far. Meanwhile, South Africa started their campaign with a close win over Bangladesh in their first game and will seek the chance to move up the points table with a win against the Women in Green.

In 24 ODIs between the two sides, Pakistan has managed to win just four games, while South Africa has managed to win 18 games. Intrestingly, there has been a tie between these two sides as well in ODIs. However, in World Cup fixtures, South Africa have an unbeaten record against Pakistan and will be looking to continue the rich form.

Last World Cup meeting:

Both Pakistan and South Africa met each other in Match 3 of the Women’s World Cup 2017 at the Grace Road in Leicester, England. South Africa’s decision to field first did work as Pakistan lost an early wicket of Ayesha Zafar for just eight runs. Nahida Khan batted really well from one end while wickets kept falling on the other side on a regular interval. Once, Nahida was dismissed for 79, the Pakistan side could add just 49 runs after that and ended up posting 206 for 8 wickets in their 50 overs.

In reply, Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee gave the perfect start as they formed a 113 run partnership for the first wicket with both batters going past their half-centuries. However, an array of wickets fell after the duo perished and South Africa were reeling at 177 for seven with two new batters in the crease. Sune Luus (15*) and Shabnim Ismail’s (22*) crucial partnership for the eighth wicket took the South Africa side over the line with one over to go.
