Netherlands coach Ryan Campbell who had suffered a heart attack last Saturday has gotten out of sedation and his family has announced through the Australia Cricketer’s Association (ACA) that he is back in stable condition. Campbell had gone into an induced coma but, he had come out of the stage four days later as revealed by his brother Mark Campbell and is in a far better condition at the moment.

The 50-year-old had represented Australia in two ODIs in 2002 and he went on to play for the Hong Kong nation in 2016 for three T20 internationals as well. Primarily, a wicketkeeper-batter, Campbell played a lot of first-class cricket since 1995 and he took up the head coach position for the Dutch side in 2017. He has played a big part in the Netherlands reaching the T20 World Cup qualifier stages in 2021 in UAE.

Doctors hope that with continued progress he should make a full recovery: ACA

Campbell’s family had updated his health status through ACA in a statement and mentioned that he is out of the sedation successfully. The statement also revealed that Campbell has reacted well despite being weak but noted that he has been talking. The statement added the Doctor’s words of Campbell recovering fully if he continues the progression and showed gratitude towards all the people who had prayed for him.

“The family is thrilled to announce that this afternoon the incredible staff at the Royal Stoke University Hospital successfully discontinued Ryan’s sedation,” the statement, shared on social media by the ACA read.

“He has reacted very well and is now in a stable condition. Whilst still very weak he is talking and responsive. Doctors hope that with continued progress he should make a full recovery. We would once again like to thank everyone for your love and good wishes. It is impossible to say how grateful we all are to you all. We will update further when we have more news,” the statement added.
