In a few days time, the fans will witness the T20 World Cup 2022 as it gets underway in Australia on October 16 and the cricket boards of all the 16 participants have named strong squads for the tournament. Namibia are one of the participants, who will be involved in the First Round and they are placed alongside Sri Lanka, the Netherlands and UAE.
The side will be led by Gerhard Erasmus and David Wiese, who is one of the popular names in the T20I circuit has also been named in the squad.
Namibia have had a massive development in their cricketing foundation over the years and it was visible in the previous edition when they impressed the fans. While no one would have expected Namibia to qualify for the Super 12 stage in the last edition, they managed to punch above their weight. A similar kind of performance would be expected of them in the upcoming edition given their experience now.
Namibia will start their campaign against Sri Lanka in the tournament opener on October 16 at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. They will play two warm-up games against Ireland and Zimbabwe on October 11 and 13 respectively.
