India are on the cusp of making it to the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 but will need to beat Bangladesh in their forthcoming fixture to make their case stronger for the last four. India have been clinical in some of the facets of the game but opener KL Rahul has not relished a great time with the bat.

Although KL Rahul has registered a fifty against Bangladesh in the ongoing clash, his string of low scores in all three previous outings against Pakistan, the Netherlands, and South Africa earlier were haunting India. Former India captain and 1983 World Cup winner, Sunil Gavaskar made advised the opener and opined that Rahul’s ‘mindset’ will have a huge impact on the side.

"Every time I see Rahul not scoring runs, I get the impression, he does not actually know the kind of ability he has. He does not seem to believe in himself. He is a fabulous player and has loads of ability. He has got to start saying 'I'm gonna go and knock the stuffing out of the ball'. He has got to have that kind of attitude. I want him to swagger. It will make a whole difference," said Sunil Gavaskar to India Today.

India close to sealing semi-final berth

The Men in Blue have not officially confirmed their spot in the last four of the tournament but a win in either of the fixtures against Bangladesh or Zimbabwe will nearly confirm the case. Rohit Sharma and co. registered their only loss to South Africa in a close contest that the latter dominated courtesy of David Miller’s sublime performance with the bat.

India will face Zimbabwe in their next outing which will be their last game in the ongoing Super 12 stage and will look to win the ongoing clash with Bangladesh and the one against Craig Ervine's side to make it to the top four.
