It has always been my dream to represent Mumbai Indians: Dewald Brevis

The newest sensation in the cricketing world, Dewald Brevis has already become a household in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before making his international debut for South Africa.

Playing for Mumbai Indians in the 15th edition of the marquee tournament, Brevis scored 161 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 142.48. The Mumbai franchise was mighty impressed with his first season at the IPL and thus has backed the youngster for the next season and also recruited him for the inaugural edition of the SA20 League.

Dubbed as ‘Baby AB’, Brevis has already broken a lot of records including Shikhar Dhawan’s record of the most runs in the U19 World Cup. This made him a sought-after name in franchise cricket, as teams all over the globe were eager to sign him for various franchise competition. It includes heavy interest from franchises in South Africa’s upcoming premier T20 league.

However, stumping his loyalty to the MI franchise, Bravis has signed for MI Capetown for the upcoming season in SA20 and also revealed that it was always his dream to represent the franchise.

“It’s a dream come true. It has always been my dream to represent Mumbai Indians, and now MI Cape Town, and to be able to play on the big stage because the crowds are massive, and I really enjoy it,” said the cricketer.

There is going to be lots of fireworks: Brevis on the inaugural season of SA20

After a lot of attempts in the past, Cricket South Africa are finally gearing up to host their inaugural T20 competition in January. Dewald Brevis, among many other cricketers, is excited about the new season and said that the fans can expect some fireworks throughout the tournament.

“I think this tournament is going to be amazing. All these players coming to South Africa, the cricket is going to be very strong. It is going to be very competitive. People must be ready, because there is going to be lots of fireworks, lots of boundaries, lots of wickets,” Brevis said.

Playing for MI Capetown, the 19-year-old will also be sharing the dressing room with some of the biggest names of T20 cricket like Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Rashid Khan Jofra Archer, and Kagiso Rabada among others.

“It’s absolutely amazing! Who better to pick their brains, and get advice from? I can’t wait to share a dressing room and a field with them,” Brevis said when asked about the prospect of learning new things in the tournament.
