Meanwhile, a policeman named Jagtar Singh from Moga Sadar police station explained the reason behind the arguments and noted that members of each group have given in writing to maintain peace.
“No one was seriously injured. Five students from each group have given to us in writing that they will maintain peace. Some students had passed comments over Pakistan’s loss which led to the argument and later it escalated when other students from Bihar, UP, etc. also joined in,” said Jagtar Singh.
On account of the incidents, Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association had tweeted that they have taken the necessary steps to release the detained people.
“We have spoken with SSP Moga Punjab @gulneets Ji and asked him to act in this matter and take notice of the horrific event involving Kashmiri students that occurred in Moga. He has promised that those responsible will face consequences and that five students who were detained would soon be released,” J&K Students Association tweeted.
