King XI Punjab player Shivam Sharma becomes the latest cricketer to plead his case, asking cricket to give him another chance. Sharma, hailing from Delhi, penned an emotional Tweet on Friday, January 6, reminding cricket fans of a similar post put out by left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat last year.
Shivam Sharma rose to fame after leading the Delhi Under-19 and North Zone Under-19 cricket teams in 2012. His impressive performances caught the eyes of the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab), and was signed by the franchise without making an appearance in senior cricket until then.
He made his debut for the Punjab-based franchise against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014, scalping two wickets in an impressive debut, dismissing the powerful hitters Yuvraj Singh and Albie Morkel. However, he did not live up to his name and has been largely on the periphery since then.
With just a handful of First Class games under his belt, the off-spinner pleaded his case on Twitter.
"If good performances really does count then Dear CRICKET, I deserve a chance, Please give me one and I'll make you proud... Promise!!" read his post.

His post intrigued cricket fans in the country as Indian left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat had compiled a similar post last year after continuous impressive performances in the domestic circuit. Unadkat received a shock call-up to the national team for the Bangladesh Test series where he played his second Test match of his career after making his debut in 2010. Shivam will be hoping for a similar kind of impact with his latest tweet.
