Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) unveiled their new jersey for the Indian Premier League 2023 season in an event on Tuesday (March 7). The Lucknow-based franchise has made major changes to their jersey from the last edition but the fans don't seem impressed so far.
LSG revealed the new jersey with an event tagline, "Naya Rang, Naya Josh, Nayi Umeed, Naya Andaar." And true to their words, the new jersey will be in dark blue colour from the previous season's turquoise blue-green. It also has red and shining green strips on the sides.
Team captain KL Rahul and mentor Gautam Gambhir were present at the jersey launch event. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah also attended the event alongside franchise owner Sanjeev Goenka. Star LSG players Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, and Jaydev Unadkat treated fans by walking the ramp at the event.
KL Rahul-led team made its debut in IPL 2022 and managed to impress the fans with their performances. They won nine out of 14 group-stage matches to finish third in the table last season but suffered a narrow 14-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator clash.
Lucknow Super Giants have further strengthened their squad with some big-name signings in the IPL 2023 auction. They signed overseas talent in the form of Nicholas Pooran, Daniel Sams, Romario Shepherd, and Naveen-ul-Haq and also bagged Indian pacer Unadkat and veteran spinner Amit Mishra to fill all the blanks ahead of the new season.
LSG will play their home games at Lucknow's Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. They will be facing Delhi Capitals in their first IPL 2023 game at home on April 1.
