After a humiliating defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad will aim to make a strong comeback in their upcoming clash against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Notably, skipper Aiden Markram has finally joined the SRH squad and that is a massive boost for the side, given that their batters absolutely failed to live up to their potential in the last match.  Meanwhile, since Markram is now available for selection, it will be interesting to see how they line up against LSG. The team combination is definitely going to change but will it have an impact on their batting or bowling performance? Let’s dissect.

Here's Sunrisers Hyderabad’s predicted XI against Lucknow Super Giants

Openers: Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Agarwal

The opening combination of Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Agarwal didn’t quite work well in the opening game. The 22-year-old was dismissed by Trent Boult in the first over of the second innings and thus, he would be gunning to prove a point this time around. Last year, he was one of the most dependable players for Hyderabad and this season, he’ll have to deliver again, especially because SRH doesn’t have enough quality Indian batters in the reserve.

Mayank Agarwal for his new franchise started well in the last match but couldn’t take the team home. The 32-year-old hit 27 runs off 23 deliveries but going forward, he’ll have to convert his scores into big totals and take more responsibility at the top of the order.

Middle order: Rahul Tripathi, Harry Brook, Heinrich Klaasen (wk)

Rahul Tripathi is known for his carnage on a cricket field. However, the 32-year-old disappointed everyone when he failed to open his tally in the match against Rajasthan. However, given his quality, one can expect Tripathi to bounce back and make a significant contribution in the upcoming match. He is extremely good against spinners in the middle overs and thus, the rivalry between Tripathi and Ravi Bishnoi will be one to watch out for.

When it comes to Harry Brook, the Hyderabad franchise broke the bank in order to sign him in IPL 2023 auction. He had a tremendous season for England in international cricket but his debut match in India is something he would want to forget soon. Meanwhile, he has the quality and everything that is needed to succeed in the tournament. He’ll just have to give himself some time to settle down and then make the most of the opportunity.

Heinrich Klaasen is likely to play his first IPL game in almost four years. He is expected to replace Glenn Phillips and take up the wicket-keeper’s role. Notably, he recently smacked a terrific century against West Indies and is in sublime form at the moment. Thus, SRH management is likely to back him as the power hitter can change the complexion of a game at any time.

All-rounders: Aiden Markram (c), Washington Sundar

Aiden Markram is all set to make his debut as a captain in the Indian Premier League. Last year, the South Africa international played some remarkable cricket and he would love to continue in the same manner this season as well. Notably, Markram led by example and helped Sunrisers Eastern Cape win the inaugural edition of the SA20 league but leading in the IPL will be a difficult challenge. Thus, it needs to be seen if he can soak in the pressure and bat the way he’s known for.

Washington Sundar meanwhile will be desperate to do well and get into the Indian squad. He can bat anywhere in the middle and with the ball, he can prove to be really economical. However, he neither did well with the bat nor with the ball in the previous match and thus, there’s a lot of room for improvement for the all-rounder at the moment.

Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Adil Rashid, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

The pace trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and T Natarajan will be extremely vital for the side in the forthcoming match. In the last match, speedster Mark Wood impressed everyone with his sheer pace but most importantly, established the fact that the pacers are likely to get massive favour from the pitch in Lucknow.

Thus, having three quality pacers will help the team a lot. Umran can cause a lot of damage with his pace while Bhuvneshwar Kumar can swing the ball up front to trouble KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers. Natarajan meanwhile will be very effective with his toe-crushing yorkers in the death overs of the match.

Adil Rashid meanwhile will have the responsibility to be economical in the middle overs. Players like Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda are excellent players of spin, thus he will have to come up with a proper strategy to succeed against LSG.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Probable Playing XI:

Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (c), Harry Brook, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Adil Rashid, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

Rajasthan Royals (SRH) Probable Impact Players

Abdul Samad, Mayank Dagar, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Markande, Vivrant Sharma.
