The 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will feature a fiery clash between the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals and the IPL 2022 finalists Rajasthan Royals. Delhi have lost both of the games they have played so far and would be keen on registering their first win of the season.
Delhi played their last game against the defending champions Gujarat Titans, where they suffered a hefty loss. It is clear that the absence of star batter Rishabh Pant is affecting them; in their next game, the side will hope for the result to be different, and it would be interesting to see what lineup they field as they take on Rajasthan Royals.
Here's Delhi Capitals’ predicted XI against Rajasthan Royals:
Openers: David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw
Skipper David Warner put in a decent performance in Delhi’s last game. The veteran Australian batter amassed 37 runs to provide a good start to the struggling Delhi side. If he can play at the top of his game, Warner’s performance could pose a major problem for Rajasthan Royals.
Prithvi Shaw has been unable to find his form in the ongoing tournament as he has scored just 19 runs in the two matches played so far. If Delhi are looking to register their first win of the season, Shaw will have to buck up and improve his game. The Indian batter would be keen to get his blissful form back.
Middle Order: Mitchell Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan, Rovman Powell, Abishek Porel (WK)
After fabulous performances against India in the ODI series, Mitchell Marsh came into the tournament looking for similar showings with Delhi Capitals. However, the ace Australian batter has been unable to perform for Delhi so far in the tournament. He has collectively scored four runs in the two matches he has batted in and the side will hope that Marsh regains his form in the forthcoming matches.
Sarfaraz Khan put in a decent performance in Delhi’s previous game; the keeper batter accumulated 30 runs and was one of the highest run-getters for the side in the first innings. He would hope to further improve upon it against Rajasthan Royals.
Rovman Powell could be one of the incoming changes that Delhi would look to make, as Rilee Rossouw has been unable to put up a good show with the bat. Powell played in Delhi’s first game of the season, where he was dismissed after scoring just one run. In the second game, he was dropped for Abishek Porel, and if he does get a place in the playing XI, Powell will look to make an instant impact.
Abishek Porel was announced as the replacement for regular skipper Rishabh Pant. He featured in Delhi’s clash against Gujarat and did manage to score 20 runs before being dismissed by Rashid Khan. Porel’s performance could be key for Delhi in the middle order against Rajasthan.
All-rounders: Axar Patel
Coming on the back of excellent form in international cricket, Axar Patel has been one of the few consistent performers for Delhi in the IPL 2023. In his team’s first game of the season, Axar took a wicket and managed to score 16 runs as well. In the second game, Axar scored 36 runs and propelled Delhi to a total of 162. If the David Warner-led Delhi are looking to capture their first win, Axar Patel will have to be at the top of his game.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar
Kuldeep Yadav was unable to impress in his last game for Delhi. The Indian spinner bowled three overs where he conceded 18 runs without taking a wicket. Yadav’s performance is going to be integral against Rajasthan considering the plethora of talent Delhi’s opponent possesses.
Anrich Nortje was undoubtedly Delhi’s best bowler in their previous game. He took two wickets to disrupt Gujarat’s plans. Despite the spell being in vain, Nortje will be keen on a repeat of his performance in the upcoming match.
Khaleel Ahmed came in as an impact player in Delhi’s previous match. Bowling four overs, Khaleel conceded 38 runs and managed to take one wicket as well. He will be expected to be handed a place in the starting lineup when Delhi Capitals take on Rajasthan Royals.
Mukesh Kumar has put in subpar performances in both of Delhi's matches so far in the IPL. The 29-year-old has been unable to take any wicket so far. As his side takes on Rajasthan, Mukesh Kumar will be keen on opening his wicket-tally in the tournament.
Delhi Capitals (DC) probable XI:
David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan (wk), Rovman Powell, Abishek Porel, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar
Delhi Capitals probable impact players:
Lalit Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, Aman Hakim Khan, Yash Dhull, Ishant Sharma
