Royal Challengers Bangalore's injury crisis is worsening by the day as injured batting ace Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of IPL 2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury. Patidar, who broke on the scene after a dazzling stint with the bat last year, was expected to take part in the latter stages of the ongoing 16th edition of the tournament.
Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis starred in a brilliant victory for RCB in their campaign opener against five-time champions Mumbai Indians despite the absence of Josh Hazlewood and Rajat Patidar. The latter, who was hoping to make an appearance for the Bangalore-based franchise in the second half of the competition, has been ruled out of IPL 2023, confirmed RCB in an official statement via Twitter. The franchise has not named a replacement for the injured star as of yet.
Patidar was nursing his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and the RCB team management, including head coach Sanjay Bangar was hopeful that the 29-year-old would be able to make a return to the side at some stage of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Bangalore-based franchise are sweating on the fitness of star left-arm pacer Reece Topley, who dislocated his shoulder after landing awkwardly during the clash against Mumbai Indians.
