Over the years, Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed top-drawer batters from around the world enter the cricket field, and made the T20 carnival their own. From the likes of Matthew Hayden to Sachin Tendulkar to AB de Villiers, many superstars of the game have taken the marquee tournament by storm with their breathtaking performances.

There have been some star batters who have obliterated bowling attacks with their marauding bats and piled on centuries for fun. Among them, there have been certain players who have fancied scoring against a particular team and clobbered multiple centuries against an IPL franchise.

Here are the players with most centuries against a single team in IPL

4. David Warner vs Kolkata Knight Riders (2)

David Warner has been one of those players who have made heads turn whenever he has stepped into the cricket field. Be it in the international arena or the cash-rich league, the Southpaw has tormented bowlers with his swashbuckling stroke play and piled on runs for fun.

Warner has featured in 167 IPL games and amassed 6109 runs at a strike rate of 139.63, which includes four centuries. Moreover, the Australian cricketer has enjoyed playing against Kolkata Knight Riders and has hammered two tons against them.

When Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) locked horns against KKR in the 26th match of IPL 2010, Warner struck his first century in the cash-rich league and blasted 107* runs off 69 deliveries. Then when Sunrisers Hyderabad clashed against Kolkata in the 37th match of 2017, Warner, who was SRH’s skipper back then, put up a show with the bat and played a blistering knock of 126 runs off 59 balls.

3. Virat Kohli vs Gujarat Lions (2)

India has produced many match-winners but there have been only a few of the caliber of Virat Kohli. The 34-year-old has annihilated batters with his glorious stroke play and stamped his authority on the cricket field. He is the most prolific run-getter in the IPL and has accumulated an insane tally of 6838 runs in 227 matches at a strike rate of 129.65.

In the ninth edition of the lucrative T20 tournament, Kohli was in his element and racked up 973 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 152.03, which includes four centuries. The Indian batter took a special liking to Gujarat Lions during the season and smashed two tons against them.

In the first encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat in IPL 2016, Kohli hammered 100* runs off 63 balls. However, his valiant effort went in vain as Suresh Raina & Co. won the game by six wickets. Then in the second clash against the Gujarat side, the batting maestro piled on 109 runs off 55 balls and it proved to be a match-winning one as RCB thrashed GL by 144 runs.

2. Chris Gayle vs Punjab Kings (2)

Chris Gayle has been a giant of a player in the T20 circuit. He has destroyed bowling attacks for fun and made the shortest format his happy hunting ground. The Jamaica-born has featured in 463 T20 matches and amassed a staggering tally of 14,562 runs at a strike rate of 144.75.

Gayle has also established his supremacy in the Indian Premier League and plundered 4965 runs in 142 games at a strike rate of 148.96. Moreover, in his illustrious IPL career, the legendary cricketer has hammered six centuries, which is the most by a batter in the marquee tournament. Among his tally of tons, two have come against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings)

Gayle's first century against Punjab came in the 47th match of IPL 2011 when he inflicted carnage on the opposition and notched up 107 runs off 49 deliveries. Then in the 40th match of IPL 2015, he put up a six-hitting fest and smashed his second ton against the Punjab franchise. The Southpaw clobbered 117 runs off 57 balls, which included 12 maximums.

1. KL Rahul vs Mumbai Indians (3)

KL Rahul has been a prominent figure in the lucrative T20 tournament. He has been associated with the marquee event since 2013 and has emerged as a run-bank with the bat. The 30-year-old has featured in 114 matches and aggregated 4044 runs at a strike rate of 135.16.

Rahul has hammered four centuries in his IPL career and interestingly, three of them have come against Mumbai Indians. The first of the lot came in the year 2019 when he played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). In the 24th match of the season, the dashing stroke-maker clobbered 100* runs off 64 balls, which comprised six fours and six maximums.

Then in the 2022 season of the T20 extravaganza, representing Lucknow Super Giants, Rahul brought his A-game into play against the five-time IPL champions and smashed centuries on both occasions he faced them. In the first encounter against MI, he racked up 103* runs off 60 deliveries while in the second clash against Rohit Sharma & Co., the Indian batter plundered 103* runs off 62 balls.
