'Warner needs to look in the mirror’ - Harbhajan Singh lambasts David Warner for latter's batting approach in IPL 2023

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 hasn’t been a season to remember for the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals. Having played eight games in the tournament so far, Delhi have only managed to win twice, and they currently sit at the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table.

Seeing the team’s disappointing performances in the tournament, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh came forward to give his take on the same. The 42-year-old criticised the form of skipper David Warner. The ace Australian batter was dismissed for a duck in Delhi’s previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and despite consistently amassing runs for his side, Warner’s strike rate has been a matter of concern for Delhi.

"I don't think they can make a comeback, and the entire reason for that is captain. He didn't lead the side well, and then his form was an issue. It has been very disappointing. Warner was dismissed earlier today (vs SRH), which is why Delhi came so close. If he had played 50 balls, that would've been 50 balls wasted, and DC would've lost by 50 runs," Harbhajan Singh said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Warner hasn't really done justice to his stature this year: Harbhajan

Continuing on the same, Harbhajan Singh also talked about Warner’s strike rate in the ongoing IPL. Having scored 306 runs in eight games so far, the 36-year-old has batted at a strike rate of 118.6 overall, Harbhajan also accused Warner of showing no intent in the matches and blamed him for the team's poor form.

"Even now, when he comes to presentations, he says about other players' mistakes. But what have you done? You didn't show any intent; you scored 300+ runs, but look at your strike rate. Warner hasn't really done justice to his stature this year. His 300 runs are of no use to DC. Warner needs to look in the mirror if he wants to find a reason for DC being at the bottom," Harbhajan Singh said.
