The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) is set to host a workshop for the PSL (Pakistan Super League) on Friday, June 23, which will be regarding the proposal to add more teams to the PSL. The franchise owners who are not present in the country will be joining the workshop meeting via Zoom call.

The PCB will be providing more details about the addition of more teams in the PSL, and the current franchise owners will be told a formula that will result in no financial loss to anyone. As per a Cricket Pakistan report, the initial proposal states that 95 percent of the central pool of revenue will go to the six existing teams. The teams could go from six to eight from the 11th year, which will see the new franchises maximise their profits as well.

"Franchises also want perpetuity rights similar to IPL, which ended in the 11th edition after taking fees for ten years in India, but PSL teams, which were sold for a lower price, don't want that. A central pool would benefit them more," the report states. However, none of the plans are certain thus far, and with Najam Sethi's recent decision to opt out of the race for PCB chief, the plans could change drastically in the future.

Meanwhile, Sethi recently took to Twitter to announce his decision to opt out of the race to be the permanent chairman of the PCB. He opined that he does not want to be a ‘bone of contention’ and stated that such uncertainty in these matters is not good for the PCB.

"Salaam everyone! I don’t want to be a bone of contention between Asif Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif. Such instability and uncertainty is not good for PCB. Under the circumstances, I am not a candidate for Chairmanship of PCB. Good luck to all stakeholders," Sethi tweeted.
