Bangladesh have done a commendable job with the bat in the one-off Test against Afghanistans. With the match being held at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, the surface was expected to be spinner-friendly. However, the players were in for a surprise when they were presented with a green wicket for the game.

Notably, the 29-year-old pacer Ebadot Hossain was sensational for Bangladesh in the first innings as he took four wickets and conceded 47 runs in 10 overs. Reflecting upon his performance, Hossain said that the bouncy wicket helped him. The pacer also said that he is hopeful of getting a chance to bowl on similar types of pitches in the future.

"Certainly, the wicket gave showed us that the pitch is good for pace bowling. As the weather was good, there was bounce and the wicket really helped me. There was a bit more bounce today and yes when I bowled from that side the wind helped me," Ebadot Hossain was quoted as saying by India Today. "If you do well, you get the confidence of winning matches. As we are doing well, we can hope (for green wickets)."

We lost wickets, but we scored a lot of runs: Ebadot Hossain

Coming in to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh managed to notch up 382 runs on the board in the first innings, with Najmul Hossain Shanto scoring a brilliant ton. Giving his take on the side’s performance in the game so far, Hossain opined that the hosts did lose wickets but covered it up by putting up a good total on the board.

"We lost wickets, but we scored a lot of runs. The weather was a bit gloomy, and we thought at the time that we would go in and get their wickets as quickly as possible. This was the plan," Hossain said.
