In rather positive news for the Indian cricket fans, star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna are nearing their returns from injuries. With the World Cup 2023 looming around the corner, their potential returns could prove to be a big boost for Team India.
Both Bumrah and Krishna, as part of their training, bowled to Mumbai batters in practice games at the Alur Grounds in Bangalore. Coincidentally, both pacers sustained stress fractures in their backs and underwent surgeries recently. Bumrah has been out of contention for international selection since 2022, and if he is able to make his return to full fitness, the Indian pace attack could be bolstered to new heights.
As part of his injury, Bumrah missed out on several major tournaments for the Indian team including the Asia Cup 2022, the T20I World Cup 2022, and the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. On the other hand, Prasidh Krishna last played a game for India back in August 2022 and has been out of contention for selection ever since.
As per a report by the Times of India, Bumrah bowled a complete quota of 10 overs, which were divided into two spells. Furthermore, Krishna also bowled to the same batters in the practice games.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah revealed Bumrah will make his comeback soon
Recently, it was revealed by the secretary of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), Jay Shah, that Jasprit Bumrah could be making his return to the Indian team very soon, and could feature for India in their upcoming T20I series against Ireland.
With the ODI World Cup 2023 all set to begin on October 5, Bumrah’s addition to the Indian setup could further bolster their chances going into the marquee tournament that they are hosting and looking to break their ICC curse. With the squad for the World Cup yet to be announced, it could be crucial for both Bumrah and Krishna to showcase their peak performances to make it into the Indian squad.
