Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter, heaped praise on fellow teammate Shaheen Shah Afridi after the latter claimed the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC bowling rankings. Shaheen achieved the feat, courtesy of his phenomenal bowling performances in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in India. Shaheen has been in unmatched form in this tournament, with the ace speedster currently the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside Adam Zampa and Marco Jansen. They have picked up 16 wickets each in the ongoing competition.

One of Shaheen's best performances in this World Cup came against Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The 23-year-old was the standout performer of Pakistan during the match, finishing with excellent figures of 5/54. However, Pakistan suffered a 62-run defeat against the five-time champions. The star speedster was crucial for the Men in Green in their previous win over Bangladesh in Kolkata, picking three wickets for 23 runs.

"Destined for greater heights and your #1 ICC ranking isn't a miracle but rather a testament of your sheer hardwork and determination. Masha'Allah @iShaheenAfridi," Rizwan wrote on X.

He has hit a century and a half-century so far in the competition.

Pakistan will next take on New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on November 4, Saturday.
