India and Bangladesh are battling out for a spot in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval and the men in blue started as clear favourites with the form they have been in. However, after the tight loss to South Africa in the previous encounter, this is a must-win game for India as a loss could mean that the Rohit Sharma-led side has to depend on other results to go their way.
Ahead of the start of the game, India was placed in the second position in the Group 2 Points table with four points in three games. Bangladesh on the other hand, were placed in the third position with the same number of points as India from three games, but their negative net-run rate proved to be the difference.
In rare circumstances, if India loses to Bangladesh, it will be a huge turnaround in the group. Bangladesh will move to the second position in the points table while the men in blue will drop a place to the third position. India is scheduled to play their final game against Zimbabwe and it will not be enough if they just win while their fate will depend on the results of Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Bangladesh will have to lose to Pakistan in their next encounter and Pakistan will have to suffer a loss against South Africa for India to qualify. For Bangladesh, all they need is a win against India and Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals and will not need to depend on other results.
India post 184 on the board in first innings
Meanwhile, India batted first in the first innings after losing the toss and managed to reach 184 for 6 in their 20 overs on the back of half-centuries from KL Rahul (50) and Virat Kohli (64*). Suryakumar Yadav's 16-ball 30 and Ashwin's cameo in the end helped India reach the total. Litton Das has put them under extreme pressure with a brilliant half-century and are currently ahead on DLS after 7 overs.
