The MI Emirates franchise has signed up four local players from UAE for the inaugural season of the ILT20 which starts in January 2023. Muhammad Waseem, Basil Hameed, Vriitya Aravind, and Zahoor Khan are all set to don the MI Emirates jersey this season and the franchise will be led by former West Indian captain, Kieron Pollard.
Notably, the MI Emirates have some of the biggest T20 names going around including the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Trent Boult and Nicholas Pooran. The franchise will is now set to be enhanced by the local additions who are all seasoned campaigners.
Muhammad Waseem has two centuries to his name in T20Is and has enough experience of playing 39 T20Is with UAE. Basil Hameed is a renowned all-rounder who has made some crucial performances for UAE across formats. Vriitya Aravind is a wicket-keeper batter who has shown great maturity and is just 20 years old.
Zahoor Khan has excellent numbers to his name in limited-overs cricket and the 33-year-old has played 74 games in international cricket for UAE.
MI Emirates coaching complete squad and coaching staff
The Mumbai Indians group with intentions of expanding its success globally, brought the MI Emirates in ILT20 and the MI Cape Town in SA20. Shane Bond, who had been associated with the Mumbai Indians in IPL as the bowling coach, was appointed the head coach of the MI Emirates squad.
Parthiv Patel will be the batting coach for the MI Emirates while Vinay Kumar was appointed the bowling coach of the MI Emirates earlier. James Franklin will take the fielding coach duties while Robin Singh was appointed the general manager of cricket role for the MI Emirates. The excellent group of personnel will come together on January 14 for their first match against Sharjah Warriors.
