The first-ever Women’s Premier League 2023 auction got underway on February 13, Monday. Before starting off with the player auctions, the BCCI President Roger Binny, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Arun Dhumal unveiled the logo of the tournament. The logo represents a silhouette of a female cricketer with a swinging bat with the tournament's name written next to it.

After the logo was unveiled, the first round of the auction got underway, which included several big names from the international setup. The very first player to go under the hammer was Smriti Mandhana. After a bidding war between Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the latter bought her services for a whopping INR 3.4 crore, becoming the highest earner from the set.
RCB then signed two more big deals as they roped in Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry and New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine. They set the foundation of their team strong in the first round before winning the bid for India's pace sensation Renuka Singh Thakur. On the other hand, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was roped in by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.8 crore.
Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner too grabbed a massive deal with the Gujarat Giants as they got her services for INR 3.2 crore after winning a bidding war againt Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz. The very first round got everyone talking as all the franchises gave their best to get the finest players from the international setup. The first-ever Women's Premier League will kick-start on March 4, 2023 and will go on till March 26 when the top two sides will clash for the summit clash.
